Cookie cutter texture set

My favourite online store to buy cookie cutters from is the Cakes Cookies & Crafts Shop. They have just to mention a few things, a lovely range of cookie cutters, edible decoration, cupcake cases, the best cookie sticks because they are slightly thinner than the ones from Wilton ;-) Topsy Turvy cake and of course I had to try it out.

When I placed my last order they were so sweet to send me the new Cookie cutter texture set with the

The set comes with three different embossing sheets. Two match the cutters shape and the last has an all-over design so it can be used for much than just cookies. Use it to emboss fondant covered cupcakes, make embossed ribbons to decorate around a cake, small fondant cut-outs, make a beautilful embossed bow or you can use it to make a sweet baby blanket if you are making a christening cake.

There are four different cookie cutter texture sets (baby onsie, heart & weddingcake).

You can paint the embossed details with soft gel colours, blossom tints or lustre dust. Just mix it with a few drops of clear alcohol and paint with a super fine paint brush. Or you can just decorate it the way you like with royal icing.

New funky alphabet & number set from FMM

I bought this new tappit set at The Cake Show in Birmingham. They are made by FMM and makes funky letters and numbers. They are a bit larger than the other alphabet tappit sets (about 1,5″ high). Use them on your cake or just put a single letter or number on your cupcakes and cookies.

When I use the tappit sets I like to roll out my rolled fondant thinly and let it dry slightly. Thats makes it more easy for me to get the fondant out of the tappit set. It always looks good when you paint it with edible lustre dust or blossom tints.

Embossing sticks and textured rolling pins

Embossing sticks and textured rolling pins are great tools to have. It gives you the opportunity to add amazing details to your fondant covered cakes and cookies. The embossing sticks are from Holly Products.

The first photo shows set 2, and the second photo shows set 10. Lately I have used them on my cookies with fantastic results. But you can also make some beautiful borders to finish off your cakes (see photo below).

When I use textured rolling pins I do not use them on the whole cake. I like to use them for smaller details. Fx. if you are to making a baby shower cake, you could use it for the baby’s blanket and/or for the bib and so on. You could also use them for borders on cakes and cookies as well.

The two larger textured rolling pins is from Jem Cutters and the smaller on is from Cuquis Design Inc. They have so many sweet designs so it is hard not to buy them all :-). In Europe you can get Cuquis Designs at CelCrafts.

On the pictures below you can see examples on what the embossing sticks and the textured rolling pins can do:

Sugarcraft gun

The sugarcraft gun is, in my oppinion, a “must have” for anyone decorating cakes. You can make robes, hair, fur, grass, ribbons, strings, bricks and logs very easy with this brilliant tool.

You can use it for different kinds of paste. Fx. sugar paste/rolled fondant, gum paste, mexican paste, flower paste and marzipan. I like to knead in a few drops of water and a small amount of white fat into my paste as it makes it more pliable and smooth when you press it through.

The sugarcraft gun comes with 16 discs included. I use the mesh, slotted and the clover leaf shapes the most.
You can see some of my cakes where I have used the sugarcraft gun here and here.

You can purchase the sugarcraft gun here: US, AU, UK

I am on it

I have been baking almost the whole week. It seems like nothing will go right at the moment. I have been wanting to make a new “Wonky-cake” since the workshop with Lindy Smith last saturday in Olso. But the recipes and my oven are teasing me at the moment grr… So hopefully tomorrow I can begin the carving and then mayby cover it sunday? well let’s see. Also I hope to get started on the mini/cupcake stand next week. I am going to the craft store tomorrow to get the last things I need to make it.

By the way take a look at these cute pink measuring cups I have just brought: 1 cup, 1/2 cup and 1/4 cup.
