Embossed cookies

This is some of the embossed cookies that I have made recently. The cookies are basic sugar cookies and they are iced with MMF.

I have used Patchwork Cutters: Quilting embosser for the heart cookie in the teacup and the Butterflies-Ladybirds & Bees cutter/embosser for the small round cookie.

For the pink and green heart cookies I have just used my favourite Dresden/Veining tool from JEM. Decorated them with edible pearls and quick mini roses. They all have borders piped with royal icing.

I have a few more photos added in the cookie gallery.

Masterclasses with Peggy Porschen

As a huge fan of Peggy Porschen I was very excited when I got notified that she will be teaching at two special pre-Christmas masterclasses for only 10 students per class. The classes will be held at her Battersea studio in London.

I would love to take a trip to London at anytime if I could just spend a day with Peggy. She will show some of her secrets when it comes to pipping and decorating her all time beautiful cookies and cakes. This time added with a touch of Christmas glitter.

The first masterclass is already coming up November 21. Here you will learn how to decorate snowflake cookies and a 6″ fruit cake.

The second masterclass is saturday December 6. This time it will be all about minature fruit cakes.

But there are more great news to come. A new book from Peggy “Cake Chic” will be published summer 2009. Can it get any better?

You can find more info at Peggy Porschen.com

Happy Halloween!

I love the movie “The Nightmare before Christmas” so I wanted to try and make some cookie lollies with the pumpkin king Jack Skellington from Halloween town. He was pretty simple to make with only two colours involved. Its sugar cookies decorated with rolled fondant icing. His mouth was painted with gel paste.

Sometimes it just have to be easy….;-)

Pretty poured fondant cupcakes

These poured fondant cupcakes are made by Patricia Lisi. She has used the poured fondant icing tutorial together with the how to cover a cupcake with poured fondant tutorial.

This was Patricias first time so I think that the result is amazing :-)

Fall inspired Birthday cake

Inspired by all the beautiful colors outside. I decided to decorate my Birthday cake with leaves, sunflowers, pumpkins and berries in warm colors.

The flavour was almond cake, 1 layer of chocolate caramel ganache and 1 layer of applesauce vanilla mousse with apples from my moms garden. I crumb coated the cake with the lovely IMBC  (it is amazing to work with) and MMF. All the decoration was made out of modelling paste and I painted the leaves with petal dust colors, mixed with alcohol.
You can see another fall cake I made two years agoe in the cake gallery.

Let me finish off by saying thank you for your votes and all the fantastic comments that you have left on the Blogger’s Choice Awards.

My inspiration source

My inspiration for Scandinavian Cake Show 08 As promised here are a few photos of what I have used for inspiration for the Novelty Cake competition. I struggled last night with the fondant as it was not co-operating at all. I usually dont have problems with Bakels (Pettinice) but this time I had. Luckily I had some Renshaw Regalice that I decided to give it a last try as it was getting late. It worked perfectly:-)

So Today I only need to assemble the cakes, add the final decorations and make a box for the cake to be transported in and last but not least the most important of all to make a first aid cake kit in case something should happend wich of course there wont (knock knock) ;-) I am quite pleased with the design of the cake, not something fancy and complicated but just fun and typical me:-) Are you curious now???

I will make sure to take some photos from the show!

Scandinavian Cake Show part 1

I will be at the Scandinavian Cake Show this weekend in Sweden. My friend Camilla is going with me and I think that we will have a fun weekend with great friends, cakes and shopping for cake tools.

I have signed up for the novelty cake competition and I am already sweating over my dummie cakes. The fondant is teasing and I see late nights ahead of me. I have made some skecthes because I still have not decided how to decorate one of the tiers but I try to keep it simple and sweet.  I hope that I will have time to post a few snippets tomorrow to reveal a little bit of what I am making:-)

So until then I will go back to the kitchen and continue with my cake.

Cupcake cookie lollies

Cupcake cookies

I have been playing with the cookie dough lately and made a lot of cute cupcake cookie lollies? or simply just cookies on a sticks. These cupcake cookies have been on my “to do list” for a very long time and I finally had a go making them. I dont have a speciel cupcake cookie cutter so I sat down and draw a template myself. I am very satisfied how they turned out and I have more cake inspired cookies on the way because I had a great time decorating them.

It is sugar cookies decorated with royal icing and you can see more cupcake cookie lollies at my gallery.
