Cake stuff

  New things

Now and then I take a shopping trip down town Copenhagen where I go and visit some of the stores I know might have some cake stuff like paper cases, cookie cutters, candles, sprinkles or other sweet things decorated with cakes or cupcakes. So yesterday was a good day because I got my hands on some cute cupcake/muffin paper cases and the nesting teddy bear cookie cutters quite cheap:-)

But the best part was the four ice cream trinkets or could they be cupcakes?? Anyway they were just too cute and I just could not leave the store with out them;-) Have an idea that they would look sweet as centerpieces for a summer party.

Could they be cupcakes?

Or ice creams?

What is your soft spot? sprinkles, paper cases, cookie cutters, cake pans ect.??

Littlest Pet Shop Birthday cake

Littlest Pet Shop Birthday cake So here is the photo of the birthday cake I made for my daughters 7th years birthday party. The cake was a light vanilla cake in three layers, raspberry coulis and raspberry mousse and white whipped chocolate ganache with chopped dark chocolate. I covered it with marzipan and rolled fondant. I used some of my pearl spray from PME to give it a nice shine. I also used my sugarcraft gun to make the border see that in my kids cake gallery . It tasted really good :-)

Color flow fondant plaque

Finished, LPS horse

I have made this Color flow fondant plaque over the last two days. It is going to be put on a cake for my daughters birthday. I knew that it had to be a motif from Littlest pet shop because she is crazy with those things. I have more photos of the procedure in the cake gallery, look under “Cake projects”.

The great cupcake pan

The great cupcake pan WSI was just browsing through Williams-Sonoma online and spotted this really sweet and cute cupcake cake pan. It is similar to the one from Wilton only I love this “swirl part” much better. It is made exclusive for Williams-Sonoma by Nordic Ware

I would so love to have this pan maybe they ship international??

Banana cupcakes

IMG_4707_resize

Finally I found time to bake some mouth watering treats. The choice fell on a fantastic banana cake recipe posted on flickr by one of my dear friends Kathryn and let me say this IS the best banana cupcakes I have ever tasted. Moist and a nice texture and that great banana taste and scent.

I had to keep an eye on them when they were cooling on the rack because three of them almost got eaten out of the oven :-). I made some nice chocolate fudge frosting from Julie Hassons 125 Best Cupcake Recipes for the rest of the cupcakes. It was a great combination together with the moist banana cupcakes. To dress them up a bit I made some pale yellow and white sugar flowers along with some home made yellow sprinkles.

You can find the banana cake recipe here and make sure you take a look at Kathryns lovely creations aswell.
