Mini cakes

I made these four mini cakes for fun this week. I baked a 6″ square cake and filled it with chocolate ganache. I used a 2″ round cutter to cut out four small cakes. Crumb coated them with ganache and covered them with chocolate and regular marshmallow fondant.

Baby shower cake stand

This is new photo of the sweet and easy to make cake stand. This one is made by Maltese Parakeet, one of the contributors from the blog Peanut Butter Étouffee. She have used my tutorial on how to make a cake stand for cupcakes and made the cake stand for a baby shower she was doing for her best friend.

The color theme for the baby shower was blue and yellow. So she went for little rubber duckies as the main decoration. So sweet!
I like the way the little rubber duckies “swim” in the blue frosting. Maltese Parakeet made the molded rubber duckies with a candy mould from Wilton.

Thank you so much for letting me show this sweet cake stand:)

Birthday cake

This is my latest birthday cake. I made it for sweet Rosalina that turned 18th. She is a very creative person and have many hobbies.

I wanted to give her a very personal birthday cake and tried to put on all the things that she loves the most like music, singing, drawing and acting. She also loves white roses and blue cornflowers.

I used a mix of flower paste and sugar paste for the flowers and leaves. The other decorations was made out of modelling paste. The musical notes and the lettering is made by using Fmm tappit sets.

Teddy bear birthday cake

This cuddly brown teddy bear birthday cake is made by Leesa from Australia, for her sons first birthday. Leesa have used the Wilton Stand-Up cuddly Bear pan set. The teddy’s fur is made of butter cream icing with a Wilton Multi-Open decorating Tip no 233 and the snout, ears, feet and eyes is attached with rolled fondant.

The direction on how to make the teddy bear cake, can be found in the book: A cake for a christening by Karen Davies. You can see two of my teddy bear cakes here and here.
Thank you Leesa for letting me show your teddy bear cake.

Embossing sticks and textured rolling pins

Embossing sticks and textured rolling pins are great tools to have. It gives you the opportunity to add amazing details to your fondant covered cakes and cookies. The embossing sticks are from Holly Products.

The first photo shows set 2, and the second photo shows set 10. Lately I have used them on my cookies with fantastic results. But you can also make some beautiful borders to finish off your cakes (see photo below).

When I use textured rolling pins I do not use them on the whole cake. I like to use them for smaller details. Fx. if you are to making a baby shower cake, you could use it for the baby’s blanket and/or for the bib and so on. You could also use them for borders on cakes and cookies as well.

The two larger textured rolling pins is from Jem Cutters and the smaller on is from Cuquis Design Inc. They have so many sweet designs so it is hard not to buy them all :-). In Europe you can get Cuquis Designs at CelCrafts.

On the pictures below you can see examples on what the embossing sticks and the textured rolling pins can do:

RSS feed cookie

I thought that the RSS feed icon would look fun as a cookie. So I made a cookie and took a photo of it. I then replaced the original RSS feed icon with the picture of the RSS feed cookie on the RSS feed subscription. I think it look great and is a bit fun too.
